April 9th, 2020 - Meal Distribution, Promise + Financial Aid Info, Staff Contact Update

The Best Admin Team in Dallas ISD
Admin Team at Homecoming 2019

I never thought I'd say that I miss chaperoning a school dance, but what I can imagine now has changed a lot. I'm looking forward to being back together. Even though it's a short week, there's still time for one more shout out. Show them some love. These APs are a very special group.

Meal Distribution
In an effort to continue social distancing, we will distribute meals only on Thursdays in the horseshoe by the new gym from 10AM to 1PM. This picture reflects the meal menu. 7 days breakfast 7 days lunch 1 day supper

Dallas County Promise Programmatic Updates & Resources+Financial Aid Info
  • 2020 Senior Promise Survey: We’re sending a survey to all Pledged students this Thursday, April 9 to learn more about their current Fall 2020 plans and how our team can best support them as they prepare to graduate. We’ll be providing the survey results in Promise CM in the coming weeks to support you as you’re following up with your students.
  • Eligibility Notifications & Appeal Process: We plan to launch eligibility notifications and the appeal process for 2020 seniors by April 20. All Pledged students who did not meet application eligibility at a partner college will receive a personalized link to submit an appeal, and we will have a blank appeal form for students who were unable to Pledge. Screenshot & tips guide will be included in next week’s update!
  • DCCCD TSI Update: DCCCD announced they will not be requiring TSI for Summer or Fall 2020 class registration, but students will need to complete the requirement by the end of the Fall 2020 semester. DCCCD is also exploring options for remote testing. Find this update along with other Student FAQs on the DCCCD website here.
  • Summary Report: Check out the weekly high school and district summary report, available here.

It is important to be familiar with this information. I have talked to a number of parents whose plans have changed in the last month. Thank you to those who have helped with this process. We will have some that need to fill out the appeal because they did not intend on going to a DCCCD school but plans have changed. You just never know.

Students whose situations have changed should reach out to the financial aid offices at the colleges they are considering. ASP is hosting daily workshops for students. They can sign up HERE.
