April 1st, 2020 - Pajama Day. Don't be an April Fool.

While it doesn't seem like the appropriate time for an April Fool's Joke, a huge shout out to our staff making life fun by participating in our virtual spirit days.

Here are some images from Crazy Hair Day:

Today is pajama day.

Gov. Abbott: Extends Order, Keeps School Closed Until May 4

Meal Distribution
The service is being reduced to one day a week at JL Long, Thursdays from 10:00 - 1:00 for the foreseeable future to protect all those involved. We have been giving out about 500 meals per distribution day so I anticipate this will impact many of our families. Please email our community liaison Ms. Jurado (elcorral@dallasisd.org) if you or you know of a family in need. Woodrow feeder pattern pantries have been collaborating to supplement community needs.

Tech Support
If you know of a family in need of a wifi hotspot, please help them fill out this request form:
https://records.dallasisd.org/Forms/HotSpotRequestLaserfiche I can't imagine what life must be like right now without Internet access.

I am working with Dallas ISD to have centralized hubs for tech distribution and repair. Technical assistance by phone is available at 972.925.5630.

Grades
Most are doing a great job completing the required tasks for all their classes. Remember that next week is the last week of the six weeks. Teachers are working to adapt what they would traditionally give as a test or project grade. Each class that a student is enrolled in will give a grade that determines credit. If a student in a STAAR class does not earn credit then they will be required to test in future years. It's important that students email teachers or attend virtual office hours if there are academic issues, in a similar way to how they will work with their professors in college. Please reach out to counselors with other concerns.

Don't be an April Fool. Please continue to follow CDC and additional guidance on keeping yourself and others safe. Now isn't the time for ego or pride - if you need help in any way, know we care and want to help. Please reach out.
