April 15th, 2020 - Additional Supports and Kudos to the Class of 2020

It's already Wednesday. 

 Thank you all for taking advantage of the educational experiences our teachers continue to create. Engaging in this work will prepare students for future coursework and professional expectations when they graduate. 

 Managing academic expectations and personal responsibilities requires a thoughtful balance. Please know you are not in this alone. The images below outline various supports:

Great news for the Class of 2020:
State Fair scholarships that were awarded last week (a major increase in awards from last year -- put in dollars, that's a $30,000 jump!) and there's more... Five additional students were each awarded a scholarship from the Exchange Club of East Dallas in the amount of $5,000 per year! (That's $80,000 awarded exclusively to Woodrow students! 

Remember, Student-Athlete/Booster Club scholarship applications are due today. UPcoming deadlines include the Frontline ER scholarship, the Vinson & Elkins scholarships, and the NDSA Book scholarship. 

So far, this brings us to $8.8 million in scholarships/financial aid and counting (with many more students that still need to turn in award offers. Our goal is $15 million.

Woodrow Families: We have created this blog to post announcements related to Woodrow Wilson High School. While we will continue to use School Messenger's call out and email features, this site will allow us to host helpful links and routine updates. Summer College Advising from ASP

Summer College Advising from ASP Please see the note below from our Academic Service Provider (ASP) regarding summer support: While this summer looks a little bit different than years previous, we are still offering  summer college advising  for students who want to participate.  We have set up a Remind account to push out information for families that want to stay informed and ASP is starting to pilot some college access initiatives in Google classroom with students participating in our summer activities.    ASP Summer Intern Programming  We have  six interns  from the University of Chicago this summer.   Three of them are our own alumni and the other three are from the DFW area.   One is an international student who attended high school in the United States and has a lot to share about what that process was like, especially when she found out that a lot of colleges wouldn't consider her for financial aid after she had applied.  All of our interns made their college
