March 21st, 2020 - Food, Testing, and Tech

Happy Saturday!

 Today I want to update you on a couple items of note.

 Meal Assistance
Dallas ISD meals will be provided at J.L. Long M.S.
Meals for students: Mon and Thursday, 10 am-1 pm. Starts on Mar 23.  Students will receive 3 meals per day for 3 days. Must bring your student. Pick up site will be marked. Staff members will distribute meals. Families should stay in the car.

LakePointe at WhiteRock Church will hand out a weeks worth of groceries this Monday at 9-11am AND from 4-6pm. The address is 9150 Garland Rd.
Just drive up, stay in the car, and boxes will be brought out.

 AP Testing
College Board has posted Advanced Placement (AP) updates for schools impacted by coronavirus: LINK
Woodrow AP teachers will communicate course expectations next week. 

 At-Home Learning

Internet Offers
Parents without home access to the Internet can consider these free or reduced-cost opportunities from area providers:
We has over 50 people pick up Chromebooks Thursday and Friday. If you need a Chromebook, please fill out the REQUEST FORM and come over to Woodrow on Monday or Thursday from 10-1 after picking up meals at Long.

Remind Information
Teachers will communicate through the Google Classroom and also Remind messaging. Here is helpful information regarding Remind:

 For parents and students
Students under 13 can't reply to messages, which is a safety feature in compliance with federal regulations. If they’re over 13 and can’t reply, they likely entered their birthdate wrong. To fix this, they should delete their account and recreate it with the correct birthday.

Woodrow Families: We have created this blog to post announcements related to Woodrow Wilson High School. Return to School Survey for Parents - Please Complete by Tuesday, June 23rd

Hello Wildcat Family: Thank you for letting us know your opinion about how your children will return to school when the new year begins Aug. 17 by completing a brief survey for each of your children. March 24th, 2020 - Day One, In the Books

Whew. Yesterday was a tough day. Out of District emails got bounced back. The phone rang off the hook. Food ran out way too early (This will be fixed for Thursday). Between these tasks, I jumped in and out of Skype, Zoom, and Hangouts before heading to home to help my sons with their online modules at about 6:00 PM. We are very fortunate to both be working right now, but juggling being a teacher, employee, and parent at the same time will take some getting used to. I'm sure your day was just as challenging, if not harder. Thank you for persevering. Seeing our staff come together and the agency of students were the highlights of the day. Continue to visit  WWHS COVID-19 Response Virtual Classroom Reference Sheet (Community-Facing)  for Google Classroom and Remind codes . Students came steadily for Chromebooks and emailed for support.
