May 7th, 2020 - Class of 2020 Graduation Preparation - Senior Info Form, Cap/Gown Pick Up

Today's post is for our graduating seniors:

Congratulations on making it to graduation! It has been a joy to work with you this year and I am excited to see each of you move on to the next stage of your life. We have a few items to attend to first to help make our virtual graduation run smoothly.

  • First, make sure that you are filling out the Graduation Form for us to fill your personal slide and the graduation program information accurately.
    • For clarity, the honors question is in reference to positions or honors received (ex: NHS, Class Officer, IB Diploma Candidate).
    • The “message” can be something from your parents, a quote you like, a fond memory (school appropriate) and has no length requirement.

  • Second, we will need to take a photo of each of you in your cap and gown, a video of you turning your tassel and a video of you throwing your cap to be seen during the graduation ceremony. This will all be done on Monday and Tuesday of next week (5/11 & 5/12).
    • Student Needs:
      • Ladies – Cap and gown over dress; dress should not be longer than the gown. Dark shoes – no tennis shoes or athletic shoes. Caps are to be worn flat on head; nothing should be allowed on mortarboards except tassels.
      • Gentlemen – Cap and gown over slacks and dress shirt. Dark shoes - no tennis shoes or athletic shoes and no jewelry. Caps are to be worn flat on head; nothing should be allowed on mortarboards except tassels.
    • When to Come for Pick Up and Picture
      • Ladies will come Monday morning (9 - 12 AM) or Tuesday Afternoon (1 to 4 PM)
      • Gentlemen will come Monday afternoon (1 to 4 PM) or Tuesday Morning (9-12 AM)
      • You must be prepared to take your picture upon arrival. You will not be permitted to leave and come back at another time.)
      • We understand that there are AP tests being administered these days, please contact us directly (pmeaker@dallasisd.org) if these times do not work.

  • Safety Protocols (TEA Requirements)
    • Every person must wear a mask until taking their picture.
    • Students must park in student or faculty parking lots with at least one space between vehicles.
    • If you are experiencing any symptoms you must stay away. Send an email to Mr. Meaker at pmeaker@dallasisd.org and we can coordinate how we can work with you.
    • Students will enter through the grey gym doors and exit through the glass fishbowl doors (all other doors will be locked).
    • Students must stay 6 feet away from each other at all times and follow staff directions.
    • Students will go through 6 stations before leaving, there will be no idling in the parking lot before or after.

  • Josten’s
    • All cap and gowns are covered by Josten’s (if you have already paid for them you will receive a refund at a later date.)
    • All other purchases must be paid for before receiving at a later date. Please pay the rest of your balance promptly.

  • Dallas ISD's 2020 graduation ceremonies will broadcast on three platforms:
 and/or downloaded from www.dallasisd.org/graduations.

    • The ceremonies will MyVRSpot will have individual URLs for each ceremony
    • Four separate Facebook accounts to post the URLs
    • Three district’s Spectrum cable channel 98, 1300, and 1301
